Seasonal Colds

They are just the worst. Sneezing, congestion, coughing, how do we manage and when to seek care. Sometimes these can linger with cough being the last symptom to go, the best care is self-care with Tylenol or ibuprofen, or cough medicine like Robitussin or Mucinex, most resolve in 7-10 days if they last longer I would week care from an urgent care provider. Nasal sinus rinses twice daily, hot steam, hot tea with lemon and honey can help and cough drops. Some people suggest vitamin C and zinc are helpful but research is limited on whether they are truly helpful. The best way to prevent the common cold is to wash your hands frequently and avoid large crowds when you can. Antibiotics typically will not help the cold because it is a virus and only causes antibiotic resistance to when we actually need them.
